In Wake of Equifax Breach, Egnyte Offers Free Data Governance Assessment

Helping Businesses Find Exposed Social Security Numbers, Credit Cards Details, and Other Private Information

Mountain View, CA. – September 8, 2017

Egnyte, the leading cloud provider of smart content collaboration and governance for enterprises, today announced they will be offering a free risk assessment to all businesses via the Egnyte Protect content governance solution.

The Egnyte Protect software will run a complete audit of the organization’s content repositories to determine what type of information is being handled, flag sensitive content, and locate all potential vulnerabilities. As part of the assessment, Egnyte’s team of security experts work with IT and Compliance teams to review the vulnerabilities, and create a tailored solution for resolving them - protecting organizations from potential breaches.

“We’ve never seen anything like this before when it comes to data breaches; nearly half the US population’s private information being exposed by one incident,” said Egnyte CEO Vineet Jain. “What happened with Equifax underscores the fact that data management and data protection can no longer be viewed as an afterthought. It’s our responsibility as business leaders to protect customers’ private information as much as possible, which is why we’re offering a complimentary data governance assessment to businesses interested in improving their security profile.”

The Egnyte Protect Free Assessment gives businesses the ability to:

  • Monitor personally identifiable information (PII), such as social security numbers (SSNs), credit card details, and more
  • Identify and alert on potential vulnerabilities surrounding their content, such as sensitive information residing in public folders, in real-time
  • Ensure regulatory compliance with standards and regulations such as PCI DSS, GLBA, DPA, GDPR, HIIPA, and more

For a complimentary Egnyte Protect assessment, please fill out a request form here.
